At the last Annapolis Immigration Justice Network Meeting I was given the Name of a young woman who, together with her children and her younger brother escaped last year from gang violence in El Salvador. Her mother is already here in Annapolis, so she, the brother and her children are able to live with her mom and her partner and a young sister.
However, she had an immediate need for warm clothes for the baby, her daughter and herself. So (it was getting so cold!) I contacted her - BUT she speaks no English! So I called Carolyn Parr ( one of our newer UCCA members) and she was willing to act as my translator. She and I went to pick up the mother and took her shopping at Goodwill, where we were able to get some great buys!! I also bought pampers, wipes and baby formula. Not having had to buy such items for 45 + years, I was quite shocked at how terribly expensive they are! Wow!
Our little lady was really pleased and grateful.
Carolyn offered to take her to buy new winter shoes this week. Of course the baby food & diapers will have to be replenished... If you are moved to help with this, please let me know at church or call or text me 443-603-8787.
If you have winter shoes for a girl size 10, or Warm Baby clothes at size 12 months (boy) left over from your or a friends' kids, please contact me.
I also want to ask for prayers for Yasir: he had to have an endoscopy (of stomach) this week. Biopsy results to come back in ten days. Let's pray for easily treatable results please!
Thank you for all you do for our Missions projects!
