The Rev. Ryan P. Sirmons serves as pastor as well as Lead Organizer of Anne Arundel Connecting Together (ACT), a new affiliate of the Industrial Areas Foundation. Prior to being ordained and serving this church from September 2013, Rev. Sirmons studied theology at Westminster College at the University of Cambridge, England, while serving as pastor of Little Baddow Chapel, a historic congregational church in Essex, England. A native of Orlando, Florida, he also holds degrees from the U.S. Naval Academy (Class of ’02) and the University of Portsmouth, England. He was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy in December 2014, but has also worked as a journalist in Mississippi, taught physical education in Naples, Italy, and worked in radar mapping for the Royal Navy. Rev. Sirmons has been instrumental in coordinating Sacred Conversations on Race among Annapolis-area clergy and Prayer Walks throughout Annapolis, and has served as Chair of the Chesapeake Association Church and Ministry Commission and Secretary of the Anne Arundel and Annapolis Coalition to End Homelessness. He is married to Irish (USNA ‘03) and they have a toddler son, Floyd.
